Singapore stocks close 2.12 pct lower

SINGAPORE, April 4 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Wednesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 2.12 percent or 72.45 points to close at 3,339.70.

A total of 2.15 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.56 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.19 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 398 to 112.

The STI index closed down 0.54 percent or 18.61 points to close at 3,412.15 Tuesday. Enditem
