Police officer wounded, suspect killed in exchange of gunfire in Canada

OTTAWA, March 30 (Xinhua) -- A police officer was wounded and a fleeing suspect was killed in an exchange of gunfire Thursday night in Evansburg in western Canada, according to CTV on Friday.

The police officer spotted the suspect who was wanted on a Canada-wide warrant and a chase began after he failed to stop the suspect's vehicle.

The police officer was injured during the exchange of gunfire and then airlifted to a hospital in Edmonton, the capital city of the province of Alberta.

More than 15 police units were involved in stopping the suspect's vehicle. Enditem
