EBRD to further support Greek economic recovery: Greek gov't

Xinhua,March 27, 2018 Adjust font size:

ATHENS, March 27 (Xinhua) -- The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will further support Greece's economic recovery efforts during 2018 and in coming years, the Greek government said on Tuesday.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras welcomed EBRD President Suma Chakrabarti to discuss Greece's return to growth in the context of its debt crisis and the bank's contribution to accelerate development via investment.

Chakrabarti expressed confidence that EBRD would continue holding a significant role in this bid, with Greece ready to exit the official bailout this summer.

EBRD will invest 600 million euros (743 million U.S. dollars) in various projects in Greece during 2018 and will extend its mandate to 2025, focusing in more sectors of the Greek economy, according to an official press release.

Since 2015, the bank has financed dozens of projects in the private sector across Greece totaling 2.5 billion euros. Enditem
