Serbian police arrests 270 in major crackdown on drugs, arms trade

BELGRADE, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Serbian police arrested 270 people suspected to be involved in criminal activities that include possession of illegal drugs and weapons, the interior ministry said on Friday.

"In the past two days, under operation Aurora, 270 people have been arrested, and 30 kg of narcotics seized, as well as a bigger amount of weapons," the ministry stated.

Police seized 25 kg of marijuana, 250 gm of heroin, 700 gm of cocaine, 4.1 kg of amphetamines, and 580 pills of ecstasy.

Some money was also seized, and 20 stolen cars were recovered. Charges were raised against 277 people, police said. Enditem
