Myanmar state counselor pledges gov't support for movie industry

Xinhua,March 24, 2018 Adjust font size:

YANGON, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi pledged on Friday government's support for further development of the country's movie industry.

At a film academy awards presentation ceremony, Suu Kyi urged artists to work hard in their movie, performing arts and literary industry to represent Myanmar and uplift Myanmar society.

On Friday, the Myanmar Motion Picture Association (MMPA) presented a total of 12 film academy awards for the year 2017 to the country's outstanding artists.

The film academy awards were presented after scrutiny out of 53 movies produced last year.

Union Minister for Information Pe Myint called for promoting the country's motion picture industry, producing better quality movies not only to entertain, but also to educate people through films.

Aiming at encouraging domestic film production and improving its quality, the film academy award presentations were held annually since 1952. Enditem
