HANOI, March 23 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam and Russia will strengthen cooperation and reinforce the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, officials from both sides said on Friday.
Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh made the remarks at a joint press briefing in Hanoi on Friday after holding talks with visiting Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
The two sides agreed to beef up cooperation in such fields as defense, security, science, technology, education, trade and economy. They have targeted two-way trade of 10 billion U.S. dollars in 2020, up from nearly 3.6 billion dollars in 2017.
Lavrov said oil and gas is still the spearheaded industry in economic cooperation between Vietnam and Russia. Russia wants to bolster cooperation in other fields as peaceful use of nuclear energy, education, training, banking, transport and infrastructure. Enditem
