Red Star lose to Fenerbahce 80-63 in Euroleague

BELGRADE, March 22 (Xinhua) -- Serbian Red Star lost to Turkish Fenerbahce 80-63 at home on Thursday in the 28th round of the basketball Euroleague.

With two matches left in the regular season, Red Star saw their chance to qualify for playoffs melt away, while Fenerbahce sealed a ticket in the top eight.

Second ranked Fenerbahce finished the first quarter with a five-point lead before they increased it to 40-31 by halftime.

They expanded the gap to 24 points for an easy win.

Ali Muhammed scored 25 points, and Nikola Kalinic added 10 for Fenerbahce, while Dejan Davidovac was best in the Serbian team with 18 points.

Red Star will play next game in Spain against Real Madrid, while Fenerbahce will travel to Moscow to face Khimki. Enditem
