British stocks up 0.64 pct Wednesday

LONDON, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Wednesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 45.96 points or 0.64 percent at 7,213.97 points.

Randgold Resources, a major multinational metal company, soared 4.86 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. Coca-Cola HBC and Fresnillo rose by 4.83 percent and 4.60 percent, respectively.

Standard Life Aberdeen, the British asset management firm, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.38 percent. Shire, the global specialty biopharmaceutical company, dropped 1.43 percent. CRH, an Irish building materials business, dropped 1.30 percent. Enditem
