Singapore stocks close 0.79 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 0.79 percent or 28.33 points to close at 3,548.74.

A total of 3.15 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.53 billion Singapore dollars (about 1.19 billion U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 324 to 150.

The STI index closed up 0.28 percent or 9.93 points to close at 3,577.07 Monday. Enditem
