NAIROBI, Jan. 30 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Tuesday.

-- Details of the order of events during the planned swearing-in on Tuesday of opposition leader Raila Odinga and his running mate in the Aug. 8, 2017 election Kalonzo Musyoka have emerged even as police warned of dire consequences if the ceremony goes on.

A tentative schedule showed the public was expected to be seated at 8.30 a.m. and the ceremony was to end by 1 p.m. The opposition said the oath will be administered by a qualified judge. The government has said the swearing-in of leaders will be treasonable act. (Daily Nation)

-- Tullow Oil has over the last year substantially reduced its number of employees in Lokichar basin, Kenya through failure to renew contracts as well as actual layoff. The layoff could mean the company may withdraw from the area. (The Standard)

-- Kenyans will have a slice of mining firms setting up in a country if a draft regulation is signed into law. The Mining Local Equity Participation says firms investing at least 10 million U.S. dollars must have 24 percent local shareholding. (The Star)
