LUSAKA, Jan. 29 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Monday.
--The Zambian government said it will re-launch its national airline on October 24, this year, the country's Independence Day, following the approval of the agreement with Ethiopian Airlines.
Minister of Transport and Communications Brian Mushimba said the government was intent to ensure that the national airline was re-launched and promised that it will strictly be run as a business. (Daily Nation)
--A trade union representing workers in Zambia's mining industry says most mining firms have allegedly refused to award their workers decent salary increments in the ongoing negotiations.
Mineworkers Union of Zambia (MUZ) secretary-general Joseph Chewe said the ongoing negotiations were tough because mining firms were allegedly not willing to give workers decent salary increments, a situation that has resulted in challenges in concluding the negotiations. (Zambia Daily Mail)
--The Zambian government has proposed a resolution on cholera at this year's World Health Assembly under the strategic priority on public health preparedness and response.
