Indonesia attaches great importance to developing friendly relations with China: president

JAKARTA, Jan. 18 (Xinhua) -- Indonesian President Joko Widodo has said that Indonesia attached great importance to developing friendly relationship and promoting pragmatic cooperation with China.

When accepting the credentials presented by Xiao Qian, China's new ambassador to Indonesia on Wednesday, President Widodo said he is satisfied with the current bilateral relations, adding that both countries should maintain high-level contacts, push forward pragmatic cooperation, and make greater progress in developing bilateral relations.

Ambassador Xiao said in recent years, China and Indonesia have seen frequent high-level exchanges, enhanced political mutual trust, and the two countries' comprehensive strategic partnership has kept sound development momentum.

Xiao said he would work with the Indonesian side to implement the important consensus reached by leaders of the two countries, facilitate deep synergy of two countries' developing strategies, expand bilateral pragmatic cooperation, enhance people to people exchanges, in a bid to push the China-Indonesia relations to new high.
