Chinese artist opens personal exhibition in Russia

ST. PETERSBURG, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- The personal exhibition of Chinese artist Wang Hongjun opened in the Russian city of St. Petersburg on Wednesday.

Chinese Consul General in St. Petersburg Guo Min said Wang harmoniously combined the imagery of Chinese traditional art and European oil painting technique.

She believed that such exhibitions will further strengthen Sino-Russian cooperation in the fields of culture and art, as well as friendship between the two peoples.

Wang told Xinhua that Russian artist Vasily Kandinsky's works, including paintings and books, have greatly inspired him.

In his letter of greeting sent to the exhibition's organizer, Minister of Culture of Russia Vladimir Medinsky said Wang is quite famous among connoisseurs of art all over the world, and now his paintings are made available for the Russian virtuoso to appreciate.

Russia is Wang's maiden stop in his personal foreign exhibitions which also includes Spain, Italy, Germany and France. Enditem
