PRAGUE, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- Czech Prime Minister Andrej Babis on Wednesday announced at a press conference the resignation of his minority government, a day after it failed to gain the confidence of the Chamber of Deputies.
According to Czech President Milos Zeman's spokesman Jiri Ovcacek, Zeman will accept the resignation of Babis' government by the end of this working week.
But it will rule until a new cabinet is appointed.
Babis wants to have a personal meeting with Zeman, which is likely on Wednesday or Thursday.
Zeman is expected to give Babis another try to form a new government. He said this time he will demand an absolute majority of the Chamber of Deputies in support of Andrej Babis' government before appointing him as prime minister-designate again.
Zeman said he will give Babis more time to negotiate with other parties.
Babis said the talks with other parties will start later on Wednesday. Enditem
