Singapore stocks close 0.39 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Jan. 16 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) up 0.39 percent or 13.8 points to close at 3,550.21.

A total of 2.12 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.12 billion Singapore dollars (about 844.14 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 272 to 182.

The STI index closed up 0.45 percent or 15.85 points at 3,536.41 Monday. Enditem
