1st LD Writethru: Rocket fired into Afghan capital's diplomatic area, no casualties reported

KABUL, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- A rocket was fired into a diplomatic district in central Kabul Monday night, leaving no casualties, an Interior Ministry official said.
The attack occurred at around 8:10 p.m. (local time), and the rocket struck street 14 of Wazir Akbar Khan, Police District 10 of the city, but caused no casualties, spokesman of the ministry Najib Danish tweeted shortly after the blast.
No group has immediately claimed responsibility for the attack.
The embassies of the United States, Japan and Canada and NATO-led Resolute Support or coalition headquarters are located in the area.
The city has been hit by a series of terrorist attacks recently.
On Jan. 4, 13 police were killed and 18 people were injured when a suicide bomber of Islamic State extremist group struck a protest along a road in nearby neighborhood. Enditem
