Car, utility vehicle, truck of year awards announced at auto show in U.S.

Xinhua,January 15, 2018 Adjust font size:

DETROIT, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- The 2018 North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) on Monday announced three outstanding vehicles of the year determined by some 60 automotive journalists from the United States and Canada.

The Honda Accord was named North American Car of the Year (NACOY), the Lincoln Navigator was named North American Truck of the Year (NATOY), and the Volvo XC60 was named North American Utility of the Year.

Finalists this year include Toyota Camry, Honda Accord, and Kia Stinger for NACOY; Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, Ford Expedition and Lincoln Navigator for NATOY; and Alfa Romeo Stelvio, Honda Odyssey, and the Volvo XC60 for North American Utility of the Year.

According to the guidelines, the awards recognize the most outstanding vehicles of the year based on factors including innovation, design, safety, handling, driver satisfaction and value for the dollar.

The awards, first given in 1994, are unique in North America since they are given by automotive journalists instead of by a single publication, website, radio or television program. Enditem
