FFF suspends Chapron following retaliatory kick at a Nantes player

Xinhua,January 15, 2018 Adjust font size:

PARIS, Jan. 15 (Xinhua) -- French Football Federation (FFF) on Monday suspended Tony Chapron "until further notice", one day after the match referee intentionally tried to kick a Nantes player in the 20th round action against Ligue 1 leaders Paris Saint-Germain.

Chapron aimed at kicking Nantes player Diego Carlos into stoppage time of the match, after he accidentally tumbled onto the pitch, thinking that Carlos intentionally pushed him to catch up with the play. Carlos was later dismissed by Chapron after receiving a second yellow card.

Following Chapron's retaliatory kick, FFF's Technical Direction of Arbitration (DTA) and the Federal Arbitration Commission (CFA) decided to suspend him as referee for Wednesday's 21st round action between Angers and Troyes until further notice.

Chapron will be summoned shortly by the Disciplinary Committee of the French professional football league (LFP).

After watching the replay, Chapron found that his fall had been caused unintentionally, and prepared a supplementary report for explaining the incident, FFF said in the statement. Enditem
