BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed lower on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.54 percent, at 3,410.49 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.35 percent lower at 11,307.46 points. The ChiNext Index, which tracks China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 2.97 percent to close at 1,732.62 points.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday at 6,057 points, down 60 points from Sunday's finish.

Among a total of 336 issues traded, 40 registered gains and 256 incurred losses while 40 remained unchanged.

BANGKOK -- The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) index Monday moved up 12.47 points, or 0.69 percent to close at 1,822.66 points.

Some 14.12 billion shares worth 94.29 billion baht (about 2.96 billion U.S. dollars) changed hands.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 12.13 points, or 0.19 percent, to a level of 6,382.19 on Monday.

Some 295,344 transactions were booked, involving 17.9 billion copies of shares with a value of 8.1 trillion rupiah (about 607.4 million U.S. Dollars).

MUMBAI -- Indian markets closed higher Monday as equity benchmark extended their gain from the morning session. The rally was led by gains in Yes Bank, HDFC, and Hero MotoCorp.

The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex closed at 34,843.51, 251.12 points or 0.73 percent up compared to its previous close at 34,592.39.

SINGAPORE -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) went up 0.45 percent or 15.85 points to close at 3536.41.

A total of 2.25 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.06 billion Singapore dollars (about 800 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 238 to 206.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended mixed here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,825.91 up 3.24 points or 0.18 percent, and the Emas was at 13,204.30 down 18.30 points or 0.14 percent.

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 122.03 points on Monday, up 1.28 points or 1.06 percent against the previous trading session.

Over 64.988 million shares worth some 937.019 billion Vietnamese dong (some 41.8 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, a decrease of 92.9 percent in volume and 96.4 percent in value against the previous trading session.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed down 73.67 points, or 0.23 percent, to 31,338.87 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 31,265.25 and 31,733.18. Turnover totaled 168.60 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 21.55 billion U.S. dollars).

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 1,063.47 points on Monday, up 13.36 points, or 1.27 percent, against last Fridays closing session.

About 292.708 million shares worth 7.708 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (344.21 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 153 stocks went up, 139 stocks fell down, while 49 stocks remained unchanged.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.49 percent higher on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index increased by 43.10 points to 8,857.72. The all-share index went up by 27.84 points, or 0.55 percent, to 5,126.59.

TOKYO -- Tokyo stocks closed higher Monday as investor sentiment was lifted by record closes on Wall Street late last week, while heavily-weighted SoftBank Group made significant gains following reports its mobile unit may list its shares by the end of the year.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average gained 61.06 points, or 0.26 percent, from Friday to end the day at 23,714.88.

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia's stocks finished lower on Monday, with the Cambodia Securities Exchange Index down 0.48 point, or 0.14 percent, to close at 339.92 points.
