French shares gain 0.52 pct Friday

PARIS, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Friday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.52 percent, or 28.51 points, to close at 5,517.06 points.

Twenty-nine of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

Both French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe and French food services and facilities management company Sodexo advanced 1.86 percent, the top gainers of the blue chips. They are followed by French retail giant Carrefour who gained 1.74 percent.

French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi went down by 3.75 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. Building material manufacturer LafargeHolcim lost 0.81 percent. French multinational electric utility company Engie S.A. edged down 0.75 percent. Enditem
