Audi sales in 2017 hit new record

BERLIN, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- Global sales of German automaker AUDI AG hit a new record high in 2017, the Ingolstadt-based company announced on Friday.
Around 1,878,100 automobiles have been delivered, representing a year-on-year increase of 0.6 percent, a statement on Audi's official website read.
This also marked growth in the company's global sales for the eighth year in a row.
Alone in December 2017, the four rings company sold worldwide 180,250 cars, up by 16.2 percent compared to December 2016. Among those cars, 69,160 units went to Chinese customers, a year-on-year rise of 34.3 percent, the statement showed.
"China posted the highest volume growth of any individual market in the last month of 2017... Never before had so many Chinese customers taken delivery of an Audi in a single month," Audi reported.
Last year Audi has delivered a total of 597,866 automobiles to Chinese customers, up by 1.1 percent. The company also saw sales growth in European and U.S. markets. Enditem
