NANCHANG, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- A court in east China's Jiangxi Province on Friday sentenced a man to death for killing a 17-year-old girl and raping her body eight years ago.

Zou Wen, 32, was found to have strangled a senior high school student surnamed Hu to death with shoelaces in the stairwell of a building in Xinjian District of Nanchang, the provincial capital, at 10 p.m. on March 26, 2009.

He then took the body to a deserted pig farm and raped it before fleeing by motorcycle, according to the city's intermediate people's court.

After eight years of efforts, police finally identified Zou as the suspect in February 2017 and arrested him the next month.

Zou confessed in court but did not mention whether he would file an appeal. Enditem
