Barcelona loses to Panathinaikos in basketball Euroleague 17th round match

ATHENS, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Barcelona Lassa lost to Greek hosts Panathinaikos 84-75 in the 17th round of the regular season of the basketball Euroleague on Thursday at the Athens Olympic sports complex.

The Greens had lost 98-71 to Barcelona in their first encounter.

James Gist and Nick Calathes, scoring 17 points each, were among the best players of the Greek team on Thursday, while Thomas Heurtel was the top scorer with 18 points for Barcelona.

After Thursday's game, Panathinaikos remain in the top three teams in the standings with Olympiakos Piraeus and CSKA Moscow, with more possibilities to win the ticket to the next phase, while Barcelona ranks 12th among the 16 teams.

In the 18th round next week, Panathinaikos will play against Fenerbahce and Barcelona will face Valencia. Enditem
