French shares drop 0.29 pct on Thursday

PARIS, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Thursday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.29 percent, or 16.13 points, to close at 5,488.55 points.

Twenty-three of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.

French food services and facilities management company Sodexo tumbled 5.12 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French concessions and construction company Vinci was down 2.58 percent. French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi edged down 2.21 percent.

Oil and gas firm Technipfmc advanced 2.84 percent, the top gainer of the day. STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer gained 2.09 percent. French multinational information technology consulting corporation Cap Gemini was up 1.15 percent. Enditem
