Singapore stocks close 0.22 pct lower

SINGAPORE, Jan. 11 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) down 0.22 percent or 7.77 points to close at 3,512.68.

A total of 3.26 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.06 billion Singapore dollars (about 797.08 million U.S. dollars). Losers outnumbered gainers by 248 to 185.

The STI index closed down 0.12 percent or 4.2 points to close at 3,520.45 on Wednesday. Enditem
