Flamengo eyeing Paraguay defender Gomez

RIO DE JANEIRO, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Flamengo are in the running to sign Paraguay international center-back Gustavo Gomez from AC Milan, according to the Italian club's sporting director Massimiliano Mirabelli.

Milan's Serie A rivals Udinese and Argentine giants Boca Juniors are also interested in the 24-year-old, who could leave the San Siro this month.

Mirabelli said Udinese and Flamengo are the favorites to secure Gomez due to Boca's reluctance to secure him on a permanent deal.

"We are still deciding but I think it will be impossible for him to go to Boca because the club will only take him on a loan and we want to sell him," Mirabelli was quoted as saying by Argentine newspaper Ole. "He will probably go to either Udinese or Flamengo. We still need to decide what the conditions of the sale will be."

Milan are reportedly seeking a transfer fee of at least 10 million euros.

Gomez has made 27 appearances for Paraguay's national team since his debut in 2013. Enditem
