Belarus' inflation rises 4.6 pct in 2017

MINSK, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Belarus' consumer price index for goods and services in December 2017 rose 4.6 percent compared with December 2016, the National Statistical Committee of Belarus said on Wednesday.

In December 2017, prices for food products went up by 4.2 percent compared to December 2016, the Statistical Committee said.

Compared with December 2016, prices for non-food products and prices for services in December 2017 increased by two percent and 9.5 percent respectively.

This is a record low level of inflation for Belarus. In 2016, prices for goods and services in Belarus increased by 10.6 percent, and by 12 percent compared with 2015.

The government predicts that prices for goods and services will rise by no more than six percent in 2018. Enditem
