French shares drop 0.35 pct on Wednesday

PARIS, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- French shares lost on Wednesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 down 0.35 percent, or 19.26 points, to close at 5,504.68 points.

A total of 28 of the 40 selected large companies lost in the day.

French water and waste group Veolia Environment tumbled 4.47 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French multinational food-products corporation Danone went down by 2.99 percent. French company producing ophthalmic lenses, Essilor Intl. edged down 2.23 percent.

European multinational aerospace and defence corporation Airbus Group advanced 3.90 percent, the top gainer of the day. French luxury goods holding company Kering gained 2.26 percent. French banking giant Societe Generale was up 2.11 percent. Enditem
