Shanghai police rule out homicide in Mongolian girl's death

SHANGHAI, Jan. 10 (Xinhua) -- Shanghai police issued a statement on Wednesday on the death of a girl from Mongolia.
Police in Xuhui district said the deceased girl was Boldbaatar Maralmaa, 21 years old. She was a student at Antai College of Economics and Management, Shanghai Jiao Tong University from September 2016 to July 2017.
Police said they received report of her death on Dec. 29 last year.
After investigation, they ruled out the possibility of homicide, and said she died from falling from a height.
On Jan. 2, Shanghai police informed the Mongolian Embassy in China. Police accompanied embassy officials and the parents of the deceased to inspect the scene of the incident.
The family of the deceased made no objection to police conclusion, and signed the police report Wednesday.
Forensic tests show the girl had multiple fractures and her death conformed to the characteristics of death caused by falling from high place. The deceased had wound on her left wrist and no other injuries that could have been inflicted by a person other than herself. There was a slight trace of alcohol in her blood, and no other toxins, police said. Enditem
