British stocks up 0.45 pct Tuesday

LONDON, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Tuesday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up 34.51 points or 0.45 percent at 7,731.02 points.

Anglo American, the international mining group, soared 3.07 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. J Sainsbury and Micro Focus International increased by 3.07 percent and 2.61 percent respectively.

The British water company United Utilities Group was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 3.67 percent. Severn Trent, another British water company, dropped 3.19 percent. Centrica, a British multinational utility company, dropped 2.52 percent. Enditem
