French shares gain 0.67 pct Tuesday

PARIS, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- French shares edged up on Tuesday, with the benchmark Paris CAC 40 up 0.67 percent, or 36.52 points, to close at 5,523.94 points.

31 of the 40 selected large companies gained in the day.

French multinational mass media conglomerate Vivendi advanced 4.11 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. French multinational advertising and public relations company Publicis Groupe rose 2.19 percent, followed by STMicroelectronics, a French-Italian multinational electronics and semiconductor manufacturer, which gained 2.02 percent.

French food services and facilities management company Sodexo went down by 2.05 percent, the top loser of the blue chips. French retail giant Carrefour lost 0.64 percent. French water and waste group Veolia Environment edged down 0.63 percent. Enditem
