NAIROBI, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Tuesday.

-- The Opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) and the ruling Jubilee Party are headed for a clash over the vetting of members of the Cabinet, with the former demanding for fresh interviews for ministers retained. NASA Minority Leader John Mbadi said all nominees must be subjected to scrutiny by Parliament and questioned the basis of an assertion that those retained should be left out. Jubilee's Majority Leader, however, said only new nominees would be vetted as the retained ones had already proved themselves. (Daily Nation)

-- U.S. envoy on Monday asked the opposition to cancel the planned swearing in ceremony of their leaders Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka as the People's President and deputy respectively on Jan. 30 and focus on national dialogue with President Uhuru Kenyatta. (The Standard)
