Singapore stocks close 0.36 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Jan. 9 (Xinhua) -- Singapore stocks closed higher on Tuesday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed up 0.36 percent or 12.47 points to close at 3524.65.

A total of 1.83 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 1.22 billion Singapore dollars (about 915.25 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 237 to 210.

The STI index closed up 0.65 percent or 22.73 points to close at 3512.18 on Monday. Enditem
