BEIJING -- Chinese stocks closed higher Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.52 percent to end at 3,409.48 points.

The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.35 percent higher at 11,382.72 points.

VIENTIANE -- The Lao stock market closed on Monday up 0.07 percent compared to the previous trading day.

The Lao Securities Exchange composite index increased by 0.68 points to reach 986.27 points after closing.

A total of 14,000 shares worth about 80 million Lao kip (nearly 9,620 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.

SYDNEY -- The Australian share market finished higher on Monday, despite giving up some early gains during the afternoon.

At the close of trade, the benchmark S&P/ASX 200 index was up 8.10 points or 0.13 percent at 6,130.40, while the broader All Ordinaries index gained 6.80 points or 0.11 percent at 6,236.50.

SEOUL -- Seoul shares ended higher Monday.

The benchmark Korea Composite Stock Price Index (KOSPI) gained 15.76 points, or 0.63 percent, to settle at 2,513.28. Trading volume stood at 309 million shares worth 6.3 trillion won (6 billion U.S. dollars).

South Korea's currency finished at 1,066.0 won against the greenback, down 3.3 won from the previous close.

MANILA -- Philippine shares closed 0.28 percent lower on Monday.

The benchmark Philippine Stock Exchange index decreased by 24.88 points to 8,745.12. The all-share index went down by 10.55 points, or 0.21 percent, to 5,065.77.

HO CHI MINH CITY -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in southern Vietnam, closed at 1,022.9 points on Monday, up 10.25 points, or 1.01 percent, against the last Friday's closing session.

About 268.788 million shares worth 7.284 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (325.18 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 160 stocks went up, 137 stocks fell down, while 39 stocks remained unchanged.

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong stocks closed up 84.89 points, or 0.28 percent, to 30,899.53 points on Monday.

The benchmark Hang Seng Index traded between 30,732.54 and 30,929.15. Turnover totaled 133.80 billion Hong Kong dollars (about 17.11 billion U.S. dollars).

HANOI -- Stock market index of Vietnam's capital Hanoi, HNX-Index, closed at 121.08 points on Monday, up 2.16 points or 1.81 percent against the previous trading session.

Over 65.954 million shares worth some 944.692 billion Vietnamese dong (some 42.2 million U.S. dollars) were traded at the Hanoi Stock Exchange on Monday, an increase of 4.85 percent in volume, but a decrease of 10.82 percent in value against the previous trading session.

SINGAPORE -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed up 0.65 percent or 22.73 points to close at 3,512.18.

A total of 1.88 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 943.8 million Singaporean dollars (about 708.76 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 258 to 161.

KUALA LUMPUR -- The Malaysian stock market ended higher here on Monday.

The Kuala Lumpur Composite Index (KLCI) was at 1,832.15, up 14.18 points or 0.78 percent, and the Emas was at 13,315.51, up 150.10 points or 1.14 percent.

JAKARTA -- Indonesia shares closed higher by 31.66 points, or 0.50 percent, to a level of 6,385.40 on Monday.

DHAKA -- Bangladesh's DSE (Dhaka Stock Exchange) Broad Index closed Monday at 6,210 points, down 57.92 points from Sunday's finish.
