Chinese express firms deliver over 40 bln parcels in 2017

Xinhua,January 08, 2018 Adjust font size:

BEIJING, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese express firms delivered an estimated 40 billion parcels last year, up 28 percent year on year, the national postal service regulator said Monday.

Overall postal business is expected to reach 976 billion yuan (150 billion U.S. dollars), up 32 percent year on year, with revenue rising by 23.5 percent, according the State Post Bureau.

While couriers delivered over 100 million parcels each day last year, consumer satisfaction stood at 75.7 percent, up only one point from 2016.

Postal infrastructure expanded steadily last year with over 1,000 storage and delivery centers built.

Storage and delivery technology such as unmanned warehouses, drones and driverless vehicles have improved efficiency.

The delivery sector plays an important role in addressing poverty with around 900 projects helping farmers to sell their produce. Enditem
