Singaporean stocks close 0.65 pct higher

SINGAPORE, Jan. 8 (Xinhua) -- Singaporean stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index (STI) closed up 0.65 percent or 22.73 points to close at 3,512.18.

A total of 1.88 billion shares changed hands with a turnover of 943.8 million Singaporean dollars (about 708.76 million U.S. dollars). Gainers outnumbered losers by 258 to 161.

The STI index closed down 0.33 percent or 11.71 points to close at 3,489.45 last Friday. Enditem
