The Kuwaiti Emir sends congratulation to Oman's Sultan Qaboos over "Gulf Cup" title

KUWAIT CITY, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- The Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on Friday sent a cable to Oman's Sultan Qaboos Bin Said congratulating him on the Omani team's win of the 23rd Arabian Gulf Cup.

The Emir praised the sports achievement of the Omani national football team, and the high performance of the two teams, Oman and UAE, in the "Gulf 23" final game held on Friday at Kuwaiti Jaber Al-Ahmad International Stadium.

Kuwait hosted the Gulf Cup tournament on Dec. 22-Jan. 5.

The Gulf Cup of Nations or Arabian Gulf Cup is an international association football tournament originally for Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) member states of the Persian Gulf. It started in 1970 and is held on a biennial basis rotating the host city every edition. Enditem
