Ball brothers to finish season in Lithuania

Xinhua,January 06, 2018 Adjust font size:

VILNIUS, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Brothers LiAngelo and LaMelo Ball, American basketball players, will play for Lithuanian Vytautas until the end of the season, LaVar Ball, father of the two, said at a press conference on Friday.

"They will finish the season here as we used to finish what we start," LaVar Ball was quoted as saying by local media.

Lithuanian sports experts suggested earlier that Ball brothers will merely stay at BC Vytautas for a few weeks in order to shoot a part of their Facebook reality show Ball in the Family.

"I will work hard in order to contribute to the team. It will not be easy as competition within the league is high, however, I am ready," 19-year-old LiAngelo Ball said at the press conference.

LiAngelo and 16-year-old LaMelo reported to BC Vytautas on Wednesday. The club is based in a small southern Lithuanian town Prienai.

The players aren't expected to debut until January 9, when their new team welcomes Tsmoki Minsk in the Baltic Basketball League, Lithuanian basketball league.

The members of Ball family are media celebrities in the US, due to their reality show and bold public statements of LaVar Ball, founder of sports apparel company Big Baller Brand. Enditem
