German shares gain 1.15 pct Friday

FRANKFURT, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark DAX index up 151.75 points, or 1.15 percent, to close at 13,319.64 points.

German multinational chemical and pharmaceutical company Bayer won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.74 percent. Automotive manufacturer Volkswagen and pharmaceutical company Merck rose by 2.84 percent and 2.62 percent respectively.

Deutsche Bank lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 5.08 percent. Commerzbank and German airlines Lufthansa down by 1.69 percent and 1.47 percent respectively.

Bayer was the most-traded share with a turnover of 568.27 million euros (684.48 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
