German shares gain 1.46 pct Thursday

FRANKFURT, Jan. 4 (Xinhua) -- German stocks rose on Thursday, with the benchmark DAX index up 189.68 points, or 1.46 percent, to close at 13,167.89 points.

German chemical firm Linde won the most among the blue chips, with its shares up 3.08 percent. European health care company Fresenius SE and manufacturing and electronics company Siemens rose by 2.50 percent and 2.35 percent respectively.

Energy group E.ON lost the most among the blue chips, by falling 0.56 percent. German airlines Lufthansa and pharmaceutical company Merck went down by 0.19 percent and 0.04 percent respectively.

Siemens was the most-traded share with a turnover of 430.48 million euros (482.41 million U.S. dollars). Enditem
