KINSHASA, Dec. 31 (Xinhua) -- Police in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) shot dead two protesters in the capital Kinshasa on Sunday, according to a witness on the spot.

The incident occurred as demonstrators held a march in the capital to demand that President Joseph Kabila step down from power.

Mobile Short Message Service (SMS) and internet service were temporarily down as the protests went on in the presence of government security forces. Enditem
