LUSAKA, Dec. 29 (Xinhua) -- The following are news highlights in Zambia's major media outlets on Friday.

-- Public gatherings in some parts of Lusaka, the Zambian capital, have been banned as part of efforts to curb further spread of cholera which has so far claimed 38 lives.

Minister of Health Chitalu Mulenga said public gatherings, including funerals, will not be allowed in cholera-infected areas, as the city has now recorded 1,462 cases since October 6, 2017. (Zambia Daily Mail)

-- Zambia's ruling party has congratulated Cyril Ramaphosa for being elected as leader of South Africa's governing party, the African National Congress (ANC).
