BISHKEK, Dec. 27 (Xinhua) -- Kyrgyzstan's main highway has been temporarily closed and electricity in some areas has been cut out due to heavy snowfall, the the Emergencies Ministry said Wednesday.

Due to heavy snowfall, the Bishkek-Osh highway connecting the north and the south of the country is temporarily closed, press secretary Elmira Sheripova said, adding that three vehicles were hit by an avalanche, but no casualties were reported.

Heavy snow also caused electricity to be cut in some regions where wires, transmission lines, insulators, line disconnectors and other power equipment were damaged. Enditem
