Five suspects detained in counter-terrorist operation in Georgia

TBILISI, Dec. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Georgian security forces detained five suspects in a counter-terrorist operation in Tbilisi and Pankisi Gorge of Akhmeta District, Georgia's State Security Service said on Tuesday.

According to the Service's spokesperson Nino Giorgobiani, the five suspects were arrested for charges related to financing terrorism, provision of material support and resources to terrorists activities.

Giorgobiani said at a press conference that one of the suspects was shot in the head and hospitalized following his failed attempt to activate a hand grenade against the counter-terrorism officers.

Investigation for identifying other individuals who might be linked to the criminal group continues, the spokesperson also noted. Enditem
