Tokyo stocks open slightly lower on Wall Street's weak tone

TOKYO, Dec. 25 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Monday as investors were in a circumspect mood following Wall Street's weak tone at the end of last week

As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average edged down 29.64 points, or 0.13 percent, from Friday to 22,873.12.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, shed 1.51 points, or 0.08 percent, to 1,827.57.

Marine transportation, bank and securities-linked issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell. Enditem
