HOHHOT, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The border trade zone in Manzhouli, a major land port of entry on China's border with Russia, has been seeing a thriving trade.
Trade volume at the border trade zone has exceeded 200 million yuan (30 million U.S. dollars) this year, bringing the total turnover to 300 million yuan since it started trial operation in June 2016.
The border trade zone traded about 45,000 tonnes of cargo and issued about 28,000 border resident identity cards and 113,000 visitors cards in 2017, according to officials with the zone's administration committee.
At the border trade zone, where more than 1,000 kinds of Russian goods are on sale, each Chinese with border resident card is allowed to purchase duty-free goods worth up to 8,000 yuan each day. Russian residents also enjoy lower prices while purchasing Chinese goods.
Manzhouli falls under jurisdiction of north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. Enditem
