NAIROBI, Dec. 24 (Xinhua) -- The following are the news highlights in Kenyan media outlets on Sunday.

-- The renewed threat by the opposition National Super Alliance (NASA) to symbolically swear in their leader Raila Odinga as the People's President has not been taken kindly by President Uhuru Kenyatta. If executed, the swearing in would have direct implications on the political landscape. No matter how illegitimate it would be viewed, the move would be seen as mimicry aimed at undermining Kenyatta's authority, that of the state and the sovereign will of the people. The opposition has refused to recognize Kenyatta's victory noting he did not win legitimately. (Sunday Nation)

-- Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has defended missing tax targets for over the past decade as reported by the World Bank in its 16th edition of Kenya Economic Update. KRA said its revenue growth plan compares well with prevailing economic indicators. (The Star)

-- With a battered economy, disfranchised parents over mass failure in KCSE exams, deaths on the roads and a deeply divided country facing an uncertain political future, this will be one Christmas many Kenyans will want to forget. So bad has been the year following a lengthy electioneering period. (Standard on Sunday) Enditem
