Euro drops against yen, dollar in Tokyo after Catalan election results

TOKYO, Dec. 22 (Xinhua) -- The euro retreated against both the yen and the U.S. dollar Friday morning in Tokyo after pro-independence parties in Catalonia won a narrow advantage in a regional election in Spain.

At midday, the euro fetched 1.1850-1850 dollars and 134.26-30 yen against 1.1869-1879 dollars and 134.50-60 yen in New York and 1.1872-1873 dollars and 134.83-87 yen at 5:00 p.m. Thursday in Tokyo.

The dollar, meanwhile, was quoted at 113.31-32 yen compared with 113.28-38 yen in New York and 113.57-59 yen in late Thursday afternoon trade in Tokyo. Enditem
