Vietnam, Laos vow to develop special solidarity, comprehensive cooperation

HANOI, Dec. 21 (Xinhua) -- During the official friendly visit to Vietnam by Laos' party top leader and president Bounnhang Vorachith, the two sides have pledged to develop the special solidarity and comprehensive cooperation between the two parties, states and people, said their joint statement on Thursday.

General Secretary of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President of Laos Bounnhang Vorachith and the Lao high-ranking delegation left Vietnam's central Nghe An province on Thursday for Vientiane.

During his three-day stay in Vietnam, the Lao leader held talks with General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee Nguyen Phu Trong and had meetings with other Vietnamese leaders. He also visited some economic and cultural facilities of Hanoi, Nghe An and the Military Zone 4 Headquarters.

The two sides agreed to maintain regular meetings between party and state leaders, while enhancing the effectiveness of bilateral cooperation mechanisms and expanding partnership as well as fostering relations between ministries, organizations and localities.

They concurred to improve the effectiveness of cooperation in economy, investment, trade, culture, education and training, healthcare, science, technology, as well as defense and security. Enditem
