NAIROBI, Dec. 20 (Xinhua) -- A job fair by Chinese companies that opened on Wednesday is providing about 1,000 opportunities for Kenyan students, a marked increase from 400 vacancies at last year's event.
Li Xuhang, Charge d'Affaires of the Chinese embassy in Kenya, told a media briefing in Nairobi that the recruitment fair provided a platform for the young people in need of linkages with Chinese enterprises.
"Over 50 Chinese companies participated in the job fair with nearly 1,000 job opportunities," Li said during the Second Job Fair by the Chinese Enterprises.
The day-long event was hosted by the Confucius Institute of the University of Nairobi with the support of the Chinese enterprises and the Chinese communities in Kenya.
Li urged Chinese companies to take full advantage of the job fair to select young talents and train them to reach their best potentials.
The Chinese diplomat said in recent years, China-Kenya relations have enjoyed the best momentum ever and the friendly cooperation had accomplished remarkable results.
Li said as China continued its endeavor to promote international cooperation, especially through the Belt and Road Initiative, the Sino-Kenya cooperation is ushering in a golden era.
Peter Mbithi, Vice-Chancellor of the University of Nairobi, said that the job recruitment exercise aims to establish active networks and links between students and potential employers.
Mbithi said that fair will also strengthen the university's critical contribution to sustainable development through its core academic function of research and teaching and amplified focus on employability. Enditem
